I’m working with Seventh Generation and Mom Bloggers for Social Good to bring you information about the #fighttoxins initiative you might be interested in. I’m receiving monetary compensation, but I’m not required to write anything in particular and all opinions are mine.
I’ve spent the last 23 years protecting my kids. Without being a hover mother, I’ve kept them from falling out windows, slipping in the tub, and eating things they found in the grass.
I’ve shopped for organic food, bought unbleached toilet paper, and paid extra for things not made of or wrapped in plastic. Still, I have no idea what’s in most things in my house. The problem is that it’s impossible to know what’s in my house.
Unlike other environmental laws, the Toxic Substances Control Act was passed in 1976 and has not been updated since. Because of this, more than 85,000 synthetic chemicals introduced since have been largely untested by the EPA—less than 10% tested!
Many of these could be harmless, but without testing, we’ll never know. Scientists have linked many diseases to exposure to certain chemicals. It’s possible that some of the more than 70,000 new, untested chemicals aren’t things you want around your children or pets.
I feel very strongly that the consumer has the right to know the possible biological effects of the products she brings into her home. Help me and Seventh Generation ask Congress to re-evaluate the Toxic Substances Control act for the first time since 1976. It’s time, and it’s important.
Please join me in visiting fighttoxins.com and signing a petition asking Congress for more information about the chemical we have in our homes right now. 20,000 more signatures are needed before the end of April. Thanks in advance for taking this stand with me!

Thanks for informing other moms about our need for safer products and better chemical safety rules for what goes into them!
