Summer in the south can be like winter farther north—the weather keeps us indoor a lot!
At night when the sun goes down, it cools off, and the kids have a later bedtime, we like to curl up on the couch and watch a movie.
One of the easiest ways to watch the movies you want is through Movies On Demand, via your cable company remote control.
What I like about Movies on Demand is that:
- I don’t have to leave my house to rent (pajama time, yo!)
- I don’t have to worry about returning movies or late fees
- Some titles are available the same day they come out on dvd
- Some titles are available WEEKS before you can rent them
- I can eat my own homemade popcorn and talk all I like
Last month we rented Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows the day it became available through Movies On Demand. This was more than a month before it was available at rental kiosks. And it cost less than a theater ticket or buying the dvd.
Another example is the release of Jeff, Who Lives at Home. It was available On Demand before it was even out on Blu-Ray or DVD
On Demand also has lots of old movie favorites as well.
If you live in the U.S., I have a quick giveaway for:
A $25 Visa Gift Card and a Jeff, Who Lives at Home Prize Pack of a backpack, wood glue, T-shirt and candy and snacks for your movie-watching pleasure.
To enter, leave a comment below telling me what’s on currently or coming up on Movies On Demand that you might like. Giveaway ends a 4:00 ET on July 23.
More about Jeff, Who Lives at Home:
The hilarious and critically-acclaimed film Jeff, Who Lives At Home will be available On Demand on June 15th, four days before you can get it on Blu-ray and DVD—which is perfect if, like Jeff, you don’t get out of your mother’s basement much.
To make your experience of this laugh-out-loud comedy even more awesome, we’ve got everything you need to throw your very own “You Don’t Have To Leave Your House-Party!”
This at-home viewing kit includes a branded backpack and koozie, bags of candy, potato chips, a t-shirt that says “The first step to finding your destiny is leaving your mother’s basement”, “Hello, My name is Kevin” nametags and wood glue (trust us, the last two will make sense when you see the movie).
And make sure to check out Movies On Demand on Facebook and trailers for Movies On Demand on YouTube.

I’m thinking I might have to watch Lockout and Casa De Mi Padre : ) Jeff, Who Lives at Home sounds worthy, too.
I’d like to see The Three Stooges. I need some mindless humor just about now.
I hear Ted is hilariously funny, but currently out now is 2 days in New York with Chris Rock that I think looks funny and my husband would love the three stouges or 21 jump street with Jonah Hill!
I’d like to see the Immortals. We use Redbox but after having the $3 in fees from the library DVD I’m returning today and dealing with FULL kiosks and having to drive out of my way to return, Demand movies at home are looking pretty good.
i think I’d watch mirror mirror. Thanks!
Hrm, there are a lot to chose from! Maybe we’d watch “The Secret World of Arrietty”. Or the Harry Potter movies. 🙂
I would like to see 21 Jumpstreet or Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. I liked the first Sherlock movie and I think Jonah Hill is funny and the ads for 21 Jumpstreet look hilarious!
I think I might like to see Mirror Mirror.
Thanks so much!
Frances
I really want to watch American Reunion – I say that preview that it was ready for On Demand viewing – want to see so badly!
I’ve been wanting to see Mirror Mirror, but haven’t seen it at the Redbox. Maybe On Demand has it!
I’d like to see the Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, Friends with Kids, or Mirror Mirror. With a family of 8, we do tend to have to wait for things to come out on DVD (or another affordable option like this) rather than going to the theater, but we DO enjoy watching movies together!
Three stooges
The three musketeers.
I’m currently watching Sherlock. Love Sherlock Holmes anything.
Superhero movies. My kids are really into them and there are a few I haven’t watched. I’d love to watch some and re-watch the Avengers, to see what I missed the first time watching it.
