I’ve been wearing glasses since I was ten years old. Once I tried my first pair of contact lenses when I was sixteen, I couldn’t ever imagine wearing glasses again.
But I did still wear glasses. I have photographic proof of my enormous, pastel, old-lady glasses. Not a good look on a cheerleader.
And don’t get me started on my Sally Jessy Raphael frames in high school.
I’ve had a dozen pair of stupid-looking glasses over the years.
So why do I wear glasses so much when I love contacts?
Discomfort! While I love my monthly-wear contacts, I hate the itching, dryness and shifting that happens at the end of the day.
Partially it’s due to airborne allergens. I flew to California for the first time a few years ago to meet with fifty of my closest homeschool friends. I was all cute with my new haircut.
But the fires around Los Angeles and the dry, dusty winds put me back in my glasses for the trip. Bummer.
Now I have contacts, but rarely wear them. It’s just been too uncomfortable with all the pollen and mold in the air here in Virginia.
Also, I’ve been traveling more frequently and it’s just easier and more comfortable to wear my glasses.
This month, though, I’m trying Biotrue from Bausch + Lomb. Next month, I’ll let you know how it’s worked for me and my tired, itchy eyes.
