I’m looking for a new Christmas album for my husband. He likes the Christmas music and I think it makes a nice stocking stuffer. He’s very hard to buy for!
I asked for recommendations from my facebook friends (Friend me! I’m Nota Supermom there.) and enjoyed listening to snippets of recommended songs.
Here’s some of what I’ve been listening to today:
Celtic Woman–Christmas Celebration
I don’t know if it’s something my husband would enjoy, but I liked it, especially Don Oíche Úd I mBeithil (That Night In Bethlehem). I wish the promo were longer.
Straight No Chaser–Christmas Cheer
I’d never heard of the a cappella group from Indiana, Straight No Chaser. Love their sound. Like Glee, but without the vocals sounding over-produced. I particularly enjoyed their clever 12 Days of Christmas set to the tune of Toto’s Africa. Also, the Hoosier State finally get its own Christmas song with Indiana Christmas
.
I’m not a big country music fan, but I like the intimate feel of Shelby Lynne’s album, Merry Christmas. Her voice is warm and almost a little sad. I particularly like Xmas
. I noticed her song Ain’t Nothing Like Christmas was available as a free download
. Follow the link for that freebie!
Other top recommended artists were
- Christmas by Bruce Cockburn
- A Christmas Together by John Denver and the Muppets
- Christmas with the Rat Pack
- A Twisted Christmas
- One Wintry Night by Jerry Read Smith (hammered dulcimer)
Check out my facebook page for the rest of what friends recommended. I really enjoyed listening to all the new music.
I searched for “free christmas mp3” on amazon and found these–enjoy!
Do you have any new favorite Christmas music this year?
My own favorite album is on the top right sidebar of my blog. Bethlehem Morning is beautiful Christmas music put out by an internet-friend. Fellow-blogger Susan in the Boonies is giving away a free copy at Wildlife in the Woods!
I think I’ve found something my husband would like, but I’m open to hearing more recommendations. I’m asking about new music because he has a pretty decent collection of albums from previous years.
Falalala la lalala la,

I got nuttin'!
I'm still a fan of Bing Crosby, and the first Amy Grant Christmas album. They both bring back good memories.
Thanks AGAIN for the plugs!!!
We really like Transsiberian Orchestra, which I don't see on your list. Celtic Woman is another that I like, but I see you're already listening to that pick. I just posted a couple of amazon freebies on my blog, but I doubt your DH is a VeggieTales fan, so that eliminates one of my finds already.
