It’s time for back to school, like it or not. My Facebook feed is full of all your cute kids looking sharp with their new backpacks and fresh haircuts. Disclosure: Hair Cuttery sent me promotional consideration for this post. All thoughts, and the picture of this pretty girl are all mine.
I love my daughter’s hair long—it’s like a chocolate waterfall. She wanted a shorter style since it’s still hot as midday under the twin suns of Tattooine. I think she looks great with any style.
For some families though, getting that back-to-school haircut may be a little outside of the budget. You can help, through the Share-A-Haircut program at Hair Cuttery.
What is the Share-A-Haircut Program?
The Share-a-Haircut program was created by Hair Cuttery to give free haircuts to underprivileged community members, specifically kids in need as they head back-to-school. Since then, they’ve expanded the program to touch people of all ages.
16 is an important number. My daughter is sixteen and it’s also the 16th anniversary of the Share-A-Haircut program. This year Hair Cuttery is determined to donate tens of thousands of free haircut certificates.
Since the beginning of the program, the Share-A-Haircut program has reached more than 925,000 children with haircut certificate donations, valued at more than sixteen million dollars.
How does the Share-A-Haircut program work this year?
From August 1-15, for every child up to age 18 who purchases a haircut at one of Hair Cuttery’s almost 900 salons, one free haircut certificate will be donated to an underprivileged child in that same community. It made us happy that my daughter’s haircut can also benefit another child here in Richmond.
How will the children receive their free haircuts?
In each market, certificates are distributed with the help of more than 100 local government and non-profit organizations that are closely tied to each community.

What a wonderful program. I love companies that give back. Plus your daughter’s haircut looks fabulous! My daughter has super long hair and we go back and forth on if we should cut it.
The haircut really freed up a lot of movement in her hair. I think they did a great job!
What a great program! Your daughter is your mini, Anne! I love her look! We’ll have to find a Hair Cuttery around here for sure for our back to school look!
She really is my mini-me. I like this more than she does!
Thank you for sharing this program – we had no idea and the kids get their hair cut at Hair Cuttery
The promotion goes until the 15th. If you go in, make sure the stylist knows. Enjoy!
Oh how I love this. I had no idea something like this existed. Thanks so much for sharing. I’ll have to see if there’s one in my neck of the woods.
It’s a great program, and in its 16th year. I love that the benefits stay local.
What a great program! I’ll need to see if it’s in my area too.
