When I went to kindergarden, it was a half-day, optional, and in separate facilities from the elementary school. One of the cutest things they did was make a tiny yearbook at the end of the school year.
I remember the yearbook was about four by four inches with a powder blue paper cover. My page said my name, my favorite foods (pizza or chocolate cake–no change there), and what I wanted to be when I grew up.
My mom was a med tech, a much cooler job back then. She got to wear a lab coat and look through a microscope every day.
Naturally, I said I wanted to be a lab tech. Or a go-go dancer.
Now I know saying go-go dancer back then was a lot like saying “striper”, but the sum total of my exposure to go-go dancing was on old reruns. I liked the fun, shaky-shake dances they did, but most of all…I loved…THE BOOTS.
Even at four, I loved shoes, especially boots. Boots made me feel fancy, special, powerful.
Sadly, I was more Mary-Janes that boots back then. There weren’t go-go boots for four-year-old girls in 1974.
So, I’ve lived the thirty-plus years since then with a boot-shaped hole in my tiny heart.
Then a few months ago I went to the rather wonderful Non-Conference hosted by Aiming Low. One of the conference sponsors was the on-line purveyor of fine-quality Western wear, Country Outfitter.
Y’all, they sent me boots. CountryOutfitter, a retailer of women’s cowboy boots, sent me these red Ariat boots to review. Special, wonderful, butter-soft, molds to your foot, red cowgirl boots.
So much better than go-go boots!
The best part–I have a $150 gift card from Country Outfitter to give to you! Yes, please stop screaming. You can get your very own boots as well.
In case you are some random boot-hater, let me tell you that Country Outfitter has more than just the top brands of boots. Check out their site for yourself. Also, I suggest following them on Facebook. They do social media right. I can’t even count how many pairs of boots they’ve given away in the last month. Also, if you are ordering for Christmas, they currently offer free shipping on orders over $150. Send Santa a little note, maybe.
TO ENTER: You must CLICK HERE and enter your email address. Country Outfitter will occasionally send you marketing messages. You are welcome to opt out at any time.
For an additional entry please leave a comment below letting me know you entered. Must be a US Resident 18 years and older.
Also, as a favor, I’d love it if you’d share this post on your Facebook wall. I’d really appreciate it.
Good luck, you guys, and Merry Christmas!

I totally wrote down on my third grade calendar that I wanted to be a go-go dancer. Or Tinkerbell. Either way, I knew I’d look good.
True story.
Hey, I’d like to see Tinkerbell in cowboy boots. She’d rock ’em.
I have entered so many times in Country Outfitter giveaways that they are starting to ask me how my daughter’s French grade is ever going to get brought up enough. Seriously. We’re tight.
AND YET, THEY GIVE ME NO BOOTS!!!!
Oh, Nota, I sure hope I’m the one who wins in this giveaway!
Red cowgirl boots? Be still, my heart! Good things come to those who wait – and apparently, to those who attend blog conferences too. Enjoy your kickin’ new boots!

I totally entered this contest. Please pick me. I keep losing. You do know that it is a rule that women living in Texas HAVE TO OWN A PAIR OF COWGIRL BOOTS. I am out of dress code compliance. Please help me correct this problem.
