I spent New Year’s eve in an ambulance after my brother, a nurse, tried to ladle Gatorade down my throat a spoonful at a time. He helped me in the bathroom, which was necessary at the time, but might be my worst memory ever. Ever.
After I got back from the ER I dozed in a narcotic haze while my mom complained about Lady Gaga during Dick Clark’s not-so-rockin’ NYE show.
And, my husband couldn’t kiss me at midnight because I was drooling and asleep. (He’s made up for it since then, but still)
So 2012 has to be better than that, right? I’m determined to improve my health this year.
I don’t think I’m alone in focusing on my health in January. There’s a reason gyms are packed and exercise equipment goes on sale.
The new year is a time when I rethink my nutrition, especially after standing on the scale and remembering all the Christmas goodies I ate. I’m especially focused after I stand on my Wii Fit balance board for a weight-in and the Wii makes a wop-wop sad trombone noise at me. “One at a time, please!”
Improving my health is especially important to me this year since I have been consistently under the weather since November. Two trips to the hospital have moved the importance of taking care of myself way up my to-do list. I’m sick, exhausted and not able to take good care of my family or my business.
This week I just finished up a run of antibiotics that has left my digestive tract a mess. I’m so glad to have a really extensive selection of Centrum’s new ProNutrient line to back up my nutritional needs, since I’ve been so nauseous and unable to eat much.
Usually a varied and healthy diet covers the vitamins and minerals I need, but with illness, a lot of kids and a busy life, it’s hard to make sure I’m covering all my nutritional bases. This is where supplements are so useful.
Check out the assessment on NutritionPossible.com under the “Explore Your Health” button. It can help you discover the supplements that are right for you.
Make sure to snag the coupon for $10 off any ProNutrients product. That is a great coupon! And there’s a $5 coupon on Centrum’s Facebook page.
Here’s what Centrum sent me:
ProNutrients™ Omega-3 These are the smallest, easy to swallow Omega-3 capsules I’ve seen! The fish oil seems to be of very good quality and they are coated in a way to not give you fish burps. That is a real problem with some Omega-3’s I’ve taken in the past. Not cool.
ProNutrients™ Fruit & Veggie It’s hard to get in your five a day when you are on the go. And no, french fries don’t count. These tablets give you the benefits of those rich, dark fruits and vegetables that are so good for you. I take these after dinner, since they should be eaten with food, but you can take them with any meal.
ProNutrients™ Probiotic This is a blend of two probiotic powders in a packet. You mix it in to a cool food or beverage to amp up the healthy flora in your gut that does so much to protect your health and move your digestion along. This is great to stir into yogurt or a smoothie in the morning. I think it’s so important to take a probiotic after finishing an antibiotic.
Also, Centrum has Centrum Specialist™ products to target your specific nutritional needs: Prenatal, Vision, Energy, Heart. I’m taking the Centrum Specialist Energy. It has B vitamins and ginseng. Better for me than coffee, though I drink that anyway. Coffee is like a liquid vitamin, right? Don’t answer that.
I have a giveaway from Centrum for one lucky person. This will be a quick one, so make haste, people!

I am participating in a Centrum ProNutrients campaign hosted by One2One Network. I received nutritional product and compensation. While all opinions stated are my own, I make no claims about Centrum ProNutrients as a product or its effectiveness. I am a chubby housewife, not a doctor or a nutritionist!
EDITED TO ADD: This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Stephanie! Enjoy your Centrum ProNutrients.

I know I need more fruits/veggies but in the winter it’s so hard to get them…. So if I win, I’d like to try the Pro_Nutrient Fruit and Veggies. 🙂
Oh, and I thought the plan was interesting — the way they told me to increase fish in my diet was cool. “Try and increase…” So very nice…
The quiz worked for me, right up until the last question when it locked up. Ha!
I’d like to try either the fruit & veggies, or the probiotics. The energy supplement sounds like a good idea too. Can’t we all use more energy?
I’d like to try the Pro-biotic or the Fruit & Veggies.
Sadly, I cannot get the quiz to load at all (maybe because my husband & son are playing an online mmorpg).
I did the whole assessment. It didn’t have any recommendations for me, but when I tried to open an account it told me the site was down, so that could explain the problem.
I am interested in trying any of the ones you’re offering. Probably the fruit and veggie one would be best, since I don’t eat many of them.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Phytonutrients, fruit and veggie. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, so I was surprised there was still a need to supplement.
Couldn’t edit. I did the entire assessment. Twice. Because I didn’t get it to work the first time. 🙂
I need to be eating more fruits and veggies, and concentrating on joint health. I know this! I really need to do a better job of taking care of my body.
I need the energy ones for sure.
I also am SORELY lacking in eating enough fruits and veggies.
I am haphazard on taking vitamins. I’ve been like you, sick with this and that for the start of the new year so far. I need either the probiotics or fruit and veggie, probably both.
I took the whole quiz, but then it told me I had to register in order to get the results…and after I registered, it sent me back to the beginning of the quiz again. Sigh. If I win, I’d choose the pro-nutrients, I eat yogurt, but I don’t think it’s enough.
I’d like to win the Omega-3 capsules. No fish burps would be cool. My brain and eyes could use some help!
I did the quiz but it stopped working at the results page. I’d like to try the probiotics, because I think that’s the area where I am weakest.
