My favorite gift to give or to get is a book. We have thousands of books in our house and on our digital readers. Reading is my favorite hobby and I spend some time with a book every day.
One of the best genres for gift books is humor. I’ve been lucky enough to read some great humor books over the last few years since a lot of my favorite bloggers are also published humorists.
I hope this list will help you pick the right gift for someone you love, or just to feed your own reader.

Erma Bombeck is the touchstone for all female humorists to this day. She’s earned a place in my heart with her gentle domestic humor.
This book, Forever, Erma, is my go-to on trips when I need something to distract myself from thinking about the engines falling off the plane mid-flight.
This collection of Erma’s best newspaper columns has me alternately chuckling or teary, sometimes in the same minute.
I’m lucky enough to call Tracy Beckerman a friend, and I hope you’ll love her books as much as I do.
Her sophomore work, Lost in Suburbia, is the story of how Tracy migrated from Manhattan to the burbs of New Jersey.
Can Tracy stay cool in a world of minivans and mom jeans? Is that even possible? Let me know if you find out.
Heather Alexander’s book, Secrets of the Mommyhood is a great book to give the new or expecting mommy in your life.
Heck, even an “old mom” like me with seven thousand cumulative years of parenting experience will like it.
Heather tells it to you straight: what’s going to happen to your body, what baby equipment you need and what’s a waste of money–everything you need to know, even if you don’t want to!
I have an autographed copy of Anna Lefler’s The Chick-tionary on my bedside table right now. This book contains all the definitions of words and phrases every chick needs to know.
Lobster heels? Jorts? Cujo syndrome? How can you avoid these things if you don’t even know what the are?
The tight, crisp writing makes this book is as informative as it is fun.
You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth is THE humor anthology of the year.
Complied from the best writing from the people behind the edgy humor site, In the Powder Room, these essays are a humorous take on the contemporary lives of women.
This one may not be for your mama, but I think you will really like it.
So now you have things you want to read but nothing to read them on? Are you in the market for some fabulous gifts for Christmas or Hanukkah? Well, my friend, do I have a giveaway for you!

I would love the stand mixer
My Keurig is about to wear out…I could use a new one…please count me in!
A great list of books! I loved Tracy’s book and will definitely check out the other ones. Under the tree for me? A gift certificate for a massage!
Great giveaway! 🙂
A big red Kitchenaid Mixer would make lots of people in my family happy!
Oh, and BTW, I’d love the Kindle. 🙂
I’d be happy to win any of those!
Have my eye on a new Coach bag that I’d love to see under the tree…but I’d take a new KitchenAid or Kindle, too.
Amazing giveaway! Thanks!!
Oops, forgot to say what I’d love to win. Definitely the Keurig! Mine just broke 🙁
I would love a new Kindle, but my family would prefer the kitchen aid mixer! And I loved Tracy’s book; I’ll have to check out the others.
A Kindle would look so nice under my Christmas tree!
Ooooo, a purdy new mixer!!!
Wow! What a generous giveaway! Going to make three people very happy. 🙂
Woud love that mixer or the new Kindle – mine is ancient!
I would love the Kindle Paper White. My almost 14 year old has been asking for one. 🙂
I would LOVE the kitchen Aid mixer! I have a 4 quart that I’ve used almost daily for ten years. I adore it, but every now and then wish it were one quart larger. 🙂
I’d like the mixer. Or the kindle.
I’d love a Mixer, or the kindle.
What an awesome set of giveaways!
I would love a Kindle, but I think my co-workers would like me to get a Keurig so I can show up at the office pre-caffeinated. 😉
I’d love the mixer!
I would LOVE to have the KitchenAid mixer!
The mixer– cookies would be a breeze with that bad mama.
This is very cool. I love to read, I love coffee–so either the impressive coffee maker or the Kindle would be nice to find under the tree this year.
A paper white kindle would be great to store all the recommended books.
Thanks for the list, Anne. I can always use an extra laugh. And I’m not the best flyer either LOL. Those huge steel contraptions are just not meant to be off the ground.
I’ve wanted a Kindle for a while!
Great ideas for humorous book gift ideas. I am feeling a bit of the bah humbug feeling, so think I will buy one to bring some laughter back into my life.
