November 11 is a special day in our house. Fifteen years ago today I gave birth to one of the two cutest girl babies ever. She had so much hair, it showed up on her ultrasound. We’re still very proud of the hair.
Thinking about the day she was born fills me with so much pride and happiness. My husband was by my side during the birth comforting me, caring for me.
When I was born, my mother was alone in the delivery room. My father was on his second tour of duty in Vietnam, and he wouldn’t return home for months. My mom was on her own during her pregnancy, and had a toddler to take care of as well.
While I was able to turn to my husband as the nurse handed me our daughter for the first time and say, “She’s so beautiful!”, my mother had send my father the same message via a Red Cross telegram.
I am grateful for my dad’s twenty years of military service, and also proud of my mother keeping the home fires burning with one little kid and another on the way.
Wahl is also proud of the families who support our military. Wahl is a leading manufacturer of hair clippers, facial hair trimmers and other personal care products. Based in Sterling, Illinois, Wahl is a family-owned company that continues to make products in the USA. Check out the Wahl Facebook page.
Wahl and Military Spouse Magazine recently hosted a photo contest to recognize men and women everywhere who run a household while their spouse is serving our country. Military spouses were asked to capture a special moment with their partner or family and submit their photos. Wahl and Military Spouse Magazine then awarded one military family with $1,000.
While there could only be one winner, Wahl is honoring all the families who shared their heartfelt photos, and the many more who serve our country, with a special Veteran’s Day video that brings these amazing images to life.
Please watch this video tribute to vets from Wahl.
So today we are thankful for many things, except in my house we also get cake. I would like to personally thank anyone who has served in our country’s armed services and also the families who support them. Thank you so much.
